Find out exactly where your exam marks slip away

Snap your marked SACs, trials and exams. Marklens tags every lost mark by cause, then gives you drills for the two or three habits costing you the most.

Your first exam is free. No card needed.

You know the content. So where are the marks going?

If you've ever walked out of an exam feeling good and then got a mark that made no sense, this is for you. It's usually not what you know. It's how it lands on the page.

"I study so hard and still bomb exams, and I genuinely don't know why."
Topic tests go fine. Then the trial comes back 15 marks lower and nobody can tell you what actually went wrong.
"I'm fine on the recall stuff, then lose everything on the 6-markers."
The extended responses are where it falls apart, but you can't tell if it's the command term, the structure or missing keywords.
"My teacher just wrote 'needs more detail'. Detail of what?"
Feedback is three words in the margin. You don't know what was missing or how to practise fixing it.
"I've done ten practice papers and I'm still making the same mistakes."
More papers means more volume, but no one is tallying which habits keep costing you marks across all of them.

From marked exam to fixed habit in three steps

  1. 1

    Snap your marked exam

Take photos of any graded SAC, trial or past exam, with your teacher's ticks and comments. Add the marking guide if you have it.

  2. 2

See why each mark was lost

Marklens reads the marks and tags every lost one by cause: command term, missing keyword, structure, novel scenario or timing.

  3. 3

    Drill your biggest leak

Get short practice sets built around the habit costing you most, like turning a 'describe' answer into a proper 'explain'.

Stop guessing. Start fixing the right thing.

Marklens works from your own marked exams, not a generic question bank, so everything it shows you is about how you write answers.

Know why every mark disappeared

Each lost mark gets a cause tag, so 'needs more detail' turns into 'missed the keyword the marking guide wanted'.

Spot the patterns across exams

Log a few papers and see which habits keep repeating, ranked by how many marks they cost you in total.

Practise only what's broken

Drills target your top leak, not content you already know. Ten focused minutes beats another full paper.

Decode command terms

See exactly what 'explain', 'analyse', 'evaluate' and 'justify' ask for, using your own answers as the examples.

Get better at unseen scenarios

Practise applying what you know to unfamiliar experiments and case studies, the 'thinking questions' where marks vanish.

Watch the leak shrink

Each new exam you log shows whether your top leak is costing fewer marks than last time.

Is Marklens for you?

Made for you if…

  • You're in Year 11 or 12 doing VCE or HSC

Especially Biology, Chemistry or Psychology, where extended responses and scenario questions carry big marks.

  • Your class tests beat your exam results

You ace topic tests, then the trial or final lands well below what you know you're capable of.

  • You keep losing marks on the long answers

Short recall questions are fine. The 4- to 6-markers are where your score quietly drains away.

  • You've got marked papers sitting in a folder

Old SACs, trials and practice exams with teacher marks on them are exactly what Marklens needs.

Probably not for you if…

  • You're still learning the content for the first time. Flashcards and notes come first.
  • You don't have any marked exams yet. Marklens needs graded papers to work from.
  • You're after maths-heavy subjects like Methods or Specialist. We start with Bio, Chem and Psych.

More study isn't the fix. Diagnosis is.

Practice papers and tutors help with plenty. Neither is built to audit your marked scripts and show what keeps costing you.

Questions you're probably asking

How does Marklens know why I lost a mark?

You upload photos of your marked exam and AI reads the questions, your answers and your teacher's marks and comments, then tags each lost mark by cause. If you add the marking guide or assessment report, the tags get more specific. It won't be perfect every time, so you can change any tag in one tap.

How is this different from just doing more practice papers?

Practice papers give you more reps. Marklens tells you what to fix in those reps. It adds up which habits cost you marks across all your exams, so you stop repeating the same mistake on paper eleven.

What happens to my exam photos?

Your photos and results are private to your account. We don't sell your data or share your scripts with your school or anyone else, and you can delete any exam and its photos whenever you want.

Which subjects and exams does it work with?

We're starting with VCE and HSC Biology, Chemistry and Psychology. SACs, trials, practice exams and past papers all work, as long as they've been marked.

Do I need an app?

No. Marklens runs in your browser, so you can snap photos on your phone and look at your breakdown on your laptop later.

How much does it cost?

Logging your first exam is free, breakdown included. Pro is $10 a month for unlimited exams, pattern tracking and drills. That's a fraction of one hour with a tutor, and you can cancel anytime.

How long does it take to set up?

A few minutes. Photograph the pages, check the questions were read correctly, and your breakdown is ready. No account linking and no teacher sign-up.

What if my teacher's handwriting is messy?

Marklens will flag anything it couldn't read so you can type it in. Ticks, crosses and mark tallies are usually enough to work out where marks went.

Stop studying more. Fix where the marks actually go.

Log one marked exam free and see your top two or three leaks before your next SAC.
