For devs juggling 2+ AI coding tools

Hit the usage limit? Switch tools without re-explaining.

Batonly captures decisions, constraints, files and tasks as you work, in a file in your repo. Claude, Claude Code and Cursor read it via MCP; ChatGPT and Gemini get a paste-ready handoff.

Free for one project. Context stays in your repo.

You didn't sign up to be the clipboard

Syncing the code is only part of the problem. Every time you switch AI tools, the reasoning behind your project gets left behind, and you're the one who has to carry it over.

“I hit the Claude limit mid-refactor and lost 20 minutes re-explaining it to ChatGPT.”
The momentum is gone. You're rebuilding the codebase map, the plan and the half-finished step from memory, while the clock runs.
“I copy it over by hand, then copy the answer back so the first one knows what happened.”
Two tools, one project, and you're the message bus. Every hop is another paste, another chance to miss something.
“The handoff summary dropped the one constraint that mattered.”
Short summaries lose decisions, file paths and rules. You only find out when the next tool breaks the thing you told the last one not to touch.
“My context.md is three weeks old and Cursor still follows rules I changed.”
Hand-kept notes go stale the moment you're busy. Then outdated facts quietly override what you decided yesterday.
“Pasting the whole chat just confuses the next model.”
Full transcripts carry every dead end. The new model latches onto the approach you abandoned an hour ago.

How Batonly works

One structured project brief, kept current while you work, readable by whichever tool you open next.

  1. 1

    Add Batonly to your repo

It creates a context file inside your project. Plain text, versioned with your code, stored on your machine.

  2. 2

    Connect your tools

Claude, Claude Code and Cursor connect over MCP so they can read and update the shared context directly.

  3. 3

Work the way you already do

As you go, Batonly extracts decisions, constraints, touched files and open tasks from your sessions. No notes to write.

  4. 4

    Switch when the limit hits

Open the next tool and it already knows the project. For ChatGPT and Gemini, copy a one-click handoff and keep going.

Project state, not a chat log

Batonly keeps what the next tool actually needs, and drops what would mislead it.

New decisions replace old ones, so stale facts can't win

Every decision is stored as structured state. When you change course, the new entry explicitly supersedes the old one, and tools only see what's current.

Context captures itself while you code

Batonly pulls decisions, constraints, file changes and open tasks out of your sessions automatically. You never stop to write a summary or update a notes file.

Pick up in ChatGPT or Gemini in seconds

Where MCP isn't available, Batonly generates a clean, paste-ready handoff: current decisions, constraints, relevant files and next task. No transcript noise.

Your context stays in your repo

The project context is a file in your repository, on your machine. Batonly doesn't upload it anywhere. Read it, diff it, commit it like any other file.

Who Batonly is for

Built for you if

  • You hit usage limits mid-session

Claude runs dry halfway through a refactor and you need to carry on in Cursor or ChatGPT without losing the thread.

  • You use 2+ AI tools on one project

Claude for planning, Cursor for edits, ChatGPT or Gemini when one gets stuck, and you're tired of relaying between them.

  • You're a solo dev or indie hacker

No team to share context with, just you and several AI tools that each forget everything the others did.

Probably not for you if

  • You only ever use one AI tool and its built-in memory is enough.
  • You need a shared team knowledge base with permissions and roles.
  • Your main tools aren't Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT or Gemini.

Compared with what you're doing now

The free options cost time instead of money. Here's where that time goes.

Questions devs ask

Why not just keep a context.md file myself?

You can, and it works until you get busy. Hand-kept files go stale mid-session, and old rules keep steering the AI. Batonly updates the context automatically from your sessions and marks replaced decisions as superseded, so tools only see what's current.

Does my code or context leave my machine?

Batonly stores the project context as a file in your repo, on your machine, and doesn't upload it anywhere. The AI tools you connect still read it, so it's shared with those providers the same way your prompts already are.

Which tools work?

Claude, Claude Code and Cursor connect via MCP and read the shared context directly. For ChatGPT and Gemini, Batonly generates a one-click, paste-ready handoff.

What if it captures something wrong?

The context is a readable file in your repo. Open it, fix the entry, and every tool sees the correction. Because it's versioned with your code, you can also diff and roll back.

How is this different from ChatGPT memory or Claude Projects?

Built-in memory is locked to one vendor and invisible to your other tools, and you can't easily see what it kept. Batonly's context is one file every tool reads, and you can inspect all of it.

How is it different from an MCP memory server?

Generic memory servers store raw key-value notes. Batonly is structured around decisions, constraints, files and tasks, tracks what superseded what, and still helps in tools without MCP via handoffs.

What does it cost?

Free for one project. Pro is $9/month for unlimited projects.

Next time the limit hits, just switch tools.

Batonly keeps your project's decisions, constraints and tasks ready for whichever AI you open next.
