The short answer
Carrd is a cheap builder for simple sites and landing pages, with Pro plans from $9 a year. The main alternatives are Framer for designed sites, Webflow for sites with a CMS, Durable for an AI-made small business site, and Ghostlaunch if the page is for testing an idea: it writes the page, sends people to it and reports what they did.
What Carrd is
Carrd is a website builder known for simple sites: one-page profiles, landing pages and small sites you can build in an afternoon. You can start free, and its Pro plans unlock more sites, custom domains, forms and other extras.
When we checked, Pro plans were priced by the year: Pro Lite from $9 a year (no custom domains or forms), Pro Standard from $19 a year with custom domains, forms, embeds and analytics, and Pro Plus from $49 a year with advanced forms and settings, with higher tiers for more sites. There was a 7-day Pro trial with no card needed.
Why people look for an alternative
Carrd is very good value for what it does, so people usually move on because of what it doesn't do. Some outgrow it: they want many pages, a blog or a CMS, or more control over design and animation. Others want a tool that writes and designs the page for them, rather than starting from a template.
And many people building a landing page don't want a website at all. They want to know whether an idea is worth pursuing. For that, the page is only one part of the job: it also needs visitors who have the problem, and a way to measure what they do.

The alternatives, one by one
- Framer
- A visual site builder for designed sites, with animation and AI features that run on credits. The free plan publishes to a Framer subdomain; a custom domain needs a paid plan, from Basic at $10 a month to Pro at $30 a month.
- Webflow
- A full site builder with a CMS, for sites that grow into many pages and a blog. The Starter plan is free; paid site plans start at $15 a month billed yearly for Basic, with a custom domain, and $25 a month for Premium with the CMS.
- Durable
- An AI website builder aimed at small businesses: it generates the pages for you and adds things like bookings. There's a free plan on a Durable subdomain, then Launch at $22 a month and Grow at $41 a month.
- Ghostlaunch
- We make this one, and it isn't a general site builder. You describe your idea and Ghostlaunch writes and designs a landing page for it, made to convert, with a price and a sign-up form. Then it reaches people already asking for a fix and, after 7 days, reports visits, clicks and sign-ups with a verdict. The search is free. A test is $49 on its own, or the Founder plan is $99 a month for 3 tests and Studio is $249 a month for 10.
How to choose
If you need a simple site and like building it yourself, Carrd is still one of the cheapest good options. Choose Framer when design matters most, Webflow when the site will grow into many pages with a CMS, and Durable when you'd rather an AI wrote a small business site for you.
If the landing page is for testing an idea, the builder matters less than what happens around it: who sees the page, whether it shows a price, and how you count what visitors do. You can do that with any builder plus your own outreach and analytics, or let Ghostlaunch handle the page, the visitors and the report together.
- A personal page or a simple site: Carrd.
- A designed marketing site: Framer.
- A site with a blog or CMS: Webflow.
- A small business site written by AI: Durable.
- A page to test whether people want an idea: Ghostlaunch.

Questions
How much does Carrd cost?
When we checked, you could start on Carrd for free, and Pro plans were billed yearly: Pro Lite from $9 a year, Pro Standard from $19 a year with custom domains and forms, and Pro Plus from $49 a year with advanced features. Higher tiers cover more sites. There was a 7-day Pro trial.
What is the best free alternative to Carrd?
Framer, Webflow and Durable all have free plans that publish to their own subdomains, and each charges for a custom domain. Framer suits design-led sites, Webflow sites that will grow, and Durable small businesses that want an AI to write the site.
Is Carrd good for a landing page?
Yes, for a simple one. Carrd is quick, cheap and flexible enough for a single page with a form. If the page is meant to test an idea, remember the page is only part of the job: you also need visitors who have the problem and a way to measure what they do.
Can Ghostlaunch replace Carrd?
Only for one job: testing an idea. Ghostlaunch writes a landing page for your idea, sends people asking for a fix to it, and reports what they did after 7 days. It isn't a general website builder, so for a personal site or a company website, Carrd or a builder like it is the better fit.
